Carter + Cecily ︱The Sweetest Engagement in Columbia, Missouri

Photographing Carter & Cecily’s engagement session was such a joy for so many reasons. For starters, they absolutely LOVE to laugh (our pre-consultation was filled with so much laughter… and coffee, ha!).
Secondly, they chose the most meaningful locations to tell the story of their relationship. There is so much freedom in the session experience planning process (pre consults are my fave). I loved hearing their ideas and discussing how we could make them a reality.
The first location they picked was where they had their first date downtown Columbia at Sake Japanese Bistro and Bar. Not only do meaningful locations make couples feel comfortable, but provide the opportunity to create something totally original for their keepsakes.
When they decided on their second location, my heart instantly melted. They decided to go where Carter got down on one knee. They made the decision so fast, and when you see the location it’s a no brainer. Stephen’s Lake Park looked so beautiful in the fall and was the perfect atmosphere for such dreamy pictures.
Another reason why I love them? Because their devotion to one another is so incredibly authentic and true.
You see, these sweethearts got MARRIED today. What I love even more is that they didn’t let anything stand between them and their union. Not even the throes of a pandemic. (What a legacy of love and great stories they’ll be telling their kids someday!)

Not only are these two an amazing couple, but also my family. Colton and I so wish we could have been there to celebrate, but we’ve been thinking of them all day long.
